The encouraging Swansea City player ratings as academy product delivers, new signing shows promise and star man stands out

STEVEN BENDA 7

Very nearly punished by David McGoldrick for dallying on the ball early on, but otherwise did what was asked of him. A first league clean sheet of the season for the German.

BEN CABANGO 7

The Welshman was very good on the ball and, on the whole, dealt with Rhian Brewster and Co well. Played his part in the clean sheet.

BRANDON COOPER 7

On his first league start for the club, the academy product delivered in what was a difficult role at the heart of the back three. Always confident in possession and made sensible decisions.

RYAN MANNING 7

Slotting into the back three, Manning provided the experience needed. Read play well on numerous occasions. Plenty of vital work.

JOEL LATIBEAUDIERE 7

Made some key passes and won his fair share of free-kicks. Got into attacking areas well late on. Encouraging.

FLYNN DOWNES 7

On his debut for the club, the midfielder showed some really neat touches and wasn't afraid to get stuck in when required. So slick on the ball and showed real promise.

MATT GRIMES - Star Man 7

Stood out in the middle of the park with his class on the ball and his range of passing. So important to what Russell Martin is doing at the club.

JAKE BIDWELL 6

Got forward well but couldn't really create much when in advanced positions. Quiet after the restart as Sheffield United grew into the game.

JAMIE PATERSON 6

Got on the ball in dangerous areas on numerous occasions but couldn't find that killer pass. Quieter in the second half, but encouraging signs.

JAMAL LOWE 5

Wasn't given a sniff at the business end of the pitch in the first half, but work rate was important. Well denied by Aaron Ramsdale on the hour mark just before being subbed.

LIAM CULLEN 5

As above in the opening 45. Didn't get any change out of the Sheffield United back four, although, in fairness, he had no service in front of goal. Replaced.

Subs

Joel Piroe (for Lowe) - Didn't really have much of an impact during his time on the pitch. 6

Morgan Whittaker (for Cullen) - Some decent flashes on the ball and setup Latibeaudiere. 6

Yan Dhanda (for Paterson) - No time to make an impact. N/A
