The encouraging early signs of how Frank Lampard and his Chelsea backroom staff will work

Frank Lampard took his first game as Chelsea head coach last night when they faced Bohemians last night in their opening pre-season friendly.

The Blues finished with a 1-1 draw in Dublin, Eric Molloy equalising after Michy Batshuayi had given the visitors an early lead at Dalymount Park.

But it wasn't just an opening bow for Blues legend Lampard, but also his backroom staff.

Jody Morris, Chris Jones, Joe Edwards, Eddie Newton and Henrique Hilario were all with Lampard in the away dugout, which was strangley positioned halfway down the length of one side of the pitch in the old stadium.

So fans in Ireland saw the first glimpses of Lampard, while there was also a chance to see the first intricacies of how Lampard and his backroom staff work.

The first man to come out on to the pitch was Jones, setting up the training cones to get prepared for the Blues to come out, while one of the fitness coaches was with him.

Meanwhile, Hilario, who was only announced as the goalkeeper coach earlier in the day, took Jamie Cumming and Willy Caballero going through their warm-up.

Jones was given the task of keeping an eye on the warm up, with Morris, Lampard and Edwards emerging later on in the process.

In the dugout during the game, Lampard sat through some of the match, flanked by Morris, Edwards, Jones, Newton and Hilario.

With 11 changes at half-time, Edwards was given the job of going through some tactics with those players, as they gathered round in a huddle.

Meanwhile, Morris and Lampard also got the players warmed up, encouraging them to get up to speed after sitting on the bench in the first half.

Lampard is excited with the backroom staff that he has at his disposal, with a bench who couldn't really be much more through and through Chelsea.

Petr Cech was also in attendance for the match as the new technical and performance advisor, while chairman Bruce Buck was also at the match.

Lampard has a strong bond with his staff, and their connection is going to be key for the Blues getting success this season.
