In recent years, specialized companies such as Salesforce.com and Workday have dominated the market for cloud-based human resources, customer relations, and logistics software—taking business from enterprise giants Oracle and SAP. Since then, the two have redefined their core strategies to focus on the cloud.
Both have dedicated most of their acquisition budgets to cloud-based companies.
