The Emmerdale stars who took on 'normal' jobs after leaving the ITV soap

Ever wonder what happens to Emmerdale stars when they leave your favourite soap?

Some venture off to Hollywood seeking fame and fortune often to mixed results. While, others have cropped up in other soaps and some actually end up taking ‘normal’ jobs for one reason or another.

Of course, in the last year or so, the coronavirus pandemic has seen potential for acting opportunities reduce with theatres closing temporarily, some TV and film productions halting and travel being restricted.

So, using the help of our colleagues at Kent Live, we’ve taken a look at some of the former Emmerdale stars who sought non-acting ways of making after exiting the village.

Samantha Giles

Samantha Giles played the role of Bernice Blackstock in Emmerdale until November 2019.

Since then, Giles is reportedly selling spells online.

The Mirror reports that the actress launched a website to sell all things magical such as an £18 Magic Kit, a £16.99 Phoenix Spell, which apparently helps people get over cruel comments, a £15.99 sell your house spell and a £6.99 Safe Pregnancy Charm.

Her magic fascination has also led her to writing.

During the lockdown, she published a children's book called Rosemary And The Witches Of Pendle Hill.

Fans will soon see Samantha Giles reprise her role as Bernice Blackstock. We’ll bring you more on that when we have further information.

Bill Ward

Former Emmerdale star Bill Ward, who also had a stint in Coronation Street, was one of many who was needing to make ends meet during the coronavirus pandemic.

His stint as James Barton in Emmerdale finished in 2017.

When Covid-19 hit he was meant to be touring the country with The Glee Club.

Instead, he ended up working as a Tesco delivery driver.

He told Bristol Live : “Towards the end of May it started to become clear that the pandemic wasn’t going away. And if anything it was going to get worse.

"That's when you look at the rest of the year ahead and think, 'Okay, I need to make a living this year; how are we going to do that as a family?'”

Adam Thomas

Adam Thomas spent nine years playing Adam Barton in the Dales before leaving in 2018.

He then took on three days a week of work at a property management company owned by a businessman friend.

"I’ve made a fortune. I’m in between jobs," he told The Mirror in 2018.

"I was just at home, waiting for a phone call to do an audition – I needed something to tick me over.”

The actor, who has two children with wife Caroline added: “I’ve got a family to support at the end of the day, so I needed some sort of income.

"It’s great for my own sanity to get out there and start working.”

Adam went on to become a property executive for Kamani Property.

But last year her was back on telly with his brothers for Absolutely India: Mancs in Mumbai.
