Chelsea fans have explained the "embarrassing" gaffe which led to a large Eden Hazard banner being unveiled before Sunday's game with Liverpool.
The Reds eventually ran out 2-1 winners at Stamford Bridge, despite Frank Lampard's side piling on the pressure in the second half.
But it was a moment before the game which left those both inside the Bridge and watching at home on the TV confused, when Blues supporters unveiled a huge Hazard banner in the Matthew Harding end.
Hazard of course left the club this summer to join Real Madrid, in a deal believed to be worth around £130million, and members of the club's fan base have taken to social media to clear up Sunday's mishap.
"People actually thinking the Hazard flag was used on purpose by the Matthew Harding stand. Just an error that's all," Chelsea fan page We Are The Shed said on Twitter.
"So much work/effort goes into organising these things and having so many flags it was bound to happen one day! Wasn't ideal but if we can't laugh at ourselves."
CFCUK Fanzine then added: "Was embarrassing I agree but it is the club who inadvertently gave us the wrong banner to display.
"Too complicated to go into how the procedure works but by the time we realised the wrong banner was going out it was too late to stop it - it won't happen again."
