The elite Newcastle United club Callum Wilson joined after goal against Tottenham

Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has joined an elite club after scoring his 15th Premier League goals for the Magpies.

There's been little to shout about on Tyneside in recent years, but the 29-year-old's goals have been a silver lining for Newcastle fans.

The former Bournemouth striker has maintained his impressive goal scoring streak in the Premier League and is without a doubt Newcastle's biggest threat in front of goal.

Only six players have reached 15 Premier League goals quicker than Wilson - who reached that tally in his 30th appearance yesterday.

Les Ferdinand leads the way for Newcastle, scoring an impressive 15 goals in 14 games, quickly followed by Andy Cole who managed that feat in exactly 15 games.

Newcastle's all time leading goalscorer, Alan Shearer, was the third quickest to reach 15 Premier League goals, in 18 appearances.

Demba Ba managed to do so in just 19 games, while it took Peter Beardsley 24 games.

Rounding off the list is Papiss Cisse who reached the tally in 26 appearances.

Wilson is now part of an impressive group of strikers to have pulled on the black and white of Newcastle and score 15 goals in such a short timeframe.

It's been a stop-start, tenure for Wilson who has struggles with injuries during his time on Tyneside.

Keeping him fit will be vital if Newcastle are to secure survival this season after just three appearances in the current campaign.
