The Elite by Kiera Cass - review

Kiera Cass, The Elite (The Selection, Book 2)

The Selection started with 35 girls. Now the competition has been narrowed down to 6 – the Elite.

A while ago if someone told 17-year old America Singer that she'd make it to the top 6 girls to win Prince Maxon's heart she would have never believed them. But now that it has actually happened, America is more confused than ever.

America is growing fonder of Maxon, yet she is still unsure of where her heart lies. Is it with her ex-lover Aspen, who is willing to do anything to get America back? But both America and Aspen are aware of the dangers of an affair between one of the girls and anyone but the Prince.

The competition is getting fiercer by the second and all the girls know exactly what they want – except for America, who is torn and struggling between her old life and new life.

After finishing the first book there was no way I was not going to read this book! Just like the first book, this sequel to The Selection is what I would call a 'leisure' book, yet it is still very captivating and intriguing. This book is not an educational classic novel, but I would recommend The Elite for people looking for a good modern teenage dystopian novel. Books similar to this are The Jewel, the Matched series or the Under the Never Sky series. This book is a relaxing and easy read, but it kept me hooked and I, for one, couldn't put it down.
