'The Elephant Whisperers': Guneet Monga reveals she wanted to take calves Raghu and Ammu to the Oscars

Guneet Monga is currently on cloud nine after her big win at the Oscars for her documentary 'The Elephant Whisperers'. The producer recently revealed that she also wished to take elephant calves Raghu and Ammu to the 95th Academy Awards.

In an interview with RJ Rohini, Guneet said that she really wished to take Booman and Bellie, Raghu and Ammu to the champagne carpet and to the Oscars! She further added that they used to always say 'Tux for Raghu, gown for Ammu'... even in their internal conversations while stylists' conversations.

'The Elephant Whisperers' was nominated against 'Haul Out,' 'How Do You Measure A Year?', 'The Martha Mitchell Effect,' and 'Stranger At The Gate'.

Recently, director Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu with their Oscars. Sharing the pictures of the meeting, the official handle of the president's office tweeted, "President Droupadi Murmu met the makers of Oscar winning documentary The Elephant Whisperers, Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga. She congratulated them on winning the award and praised them for showcasing India's tradition of conservation and living in harmony with nature."

Helmed by debutant Kartiki Gonsalves, the 41-minute short documentary movie explores the precious bond between Raghu, an orphaned baby elephant, and his caretakers - a mahout couple named Bomman and Bellie - who devote their lives to protect him from poachers and raise him.
