The eight stone dog who has had THREE owners in a year

King the cross breed has found himself back at Manchester Dogs Home for the third time in 10 months, and volunteers just can’t understand why. The 14-month-old bull breed arrived at the rescue in September 2021, and is struggling to find somewhere to call home.

The pup is described as ‘absolutely awesome’ - though the rescue staff fear potential adopters are put off by his size. He does weigh around 50kg, after all.

After arriving at the dog's home, King has been adopted into two homes, but neither worked out, with each owner returning him to the kennels. Perhaps it’ll be third rescue attempt lucky?

A spokesman for the centre said: “This big guy is absolutely awesome, I don't know why he hasn't found someone yet...perhaps it's his size? He's really only a pup still and is very loving whenever I go see him in his kennel he always jumps up on the bars for a stroke.

“King is happy, playful and loves a good fuss, everything you would expect from a young boy. He thoroughly enjoys his daily walks and playing with his toys. However, weighing in at around 50kg, King doesn’t realise his own size and strength and can be boisterous.”

As a result of his bouncy personality and large frame, King is looking for a home with a family who have experience of large dogs, and any children would need to be over 16. King will need ongoing training and socialisation, so adopters should be willing to devote time to this.

Manchester Dogs Home added: “King has met many dogs here at the home and is always eager to say hello. He’s made some friends who are keen to play with him, though some do find him overbearing if he gets a little too excitable.”

If you could provide a throne and a dinner menu fit for King, please get in touch with Manchester Dogs Home.
