The eight Oxford United players Karl Robinson will be without for Crystal Palace Carabao Cup tie

Oxford United are set to be without eight players for tomorrow’s Carabao Cup second-round tie against Crystal Palace.

Patrick Vieira's Eagles travel to the Kassam Stadium to take on Karl Robinson's side, who are currently 19th in League One after a difficult start to the new campaign, having won just one of their five league games to date this term.

Oxford did beat Championship side Swansea City on penalties in the first round of the competition after a 2-2 draw, while Robinson's men drew 1-1 with Morecambe in the third tier on Saturday.

But Marcus McGuane (calf), James Henry and Alex Gorrin (both hamstring) have been added to the U’s growing injury list following Saturday’s draw against Morecambe, making it eight players who are now set to be sidelined for the cup clash with Palace.

Elliott Moore missed the Sky Bet League One clash at the Kassam Stadium with a quad issue and the Oxford Mail report that all four players will go for scans this week.

Marcus Browne is also currently sidelined with a knee injury, while Yanic Wildshut, Sam Baldock and Josh Murphy are also out injured, leaving Robinson with just 12 fit senior outfield players for the cup game against Palace, along with two goalkeepers.

As such, Oxford are likely to include a number of young players in their squad for the game, with Tyler Goodrham, Slavi Spasov, James Goldng and Gatlin O'Donkor among those to be called upon so far this season.

Meanwhile, Vieira has suggested that Palace will play a strong side for the game against Oxford with the Eagles looking to continue their momentum after following up a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield with a 3-1 win against Aston Villa at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
