A stalled Liverpool city centre development has been revived after a construction firm was appointed to help finish the scheme, with a completion date now set for next year.
Legacie Developments has announced its appointment to restart construction on 'The Eight Building' near Chinatown after the 120-apartment project came to halt last year.
That came when the original contractor, Forrest, hit financial difficulty , but there are now hopes the scheme on Grenville Street and Upper Pitt Street will be finished.
According to Legacie, it has entered into a partnership with developer Iliad to complete the £18m project, hoping to complete it by December 2020.
John Morley from Legacie Developments said: “Legacie has a track record of delivering quality developments in Liverpool and the across wider North West.
"We are looking forward to getting this development back on track and bringing it to fruition in partnership with Iliad.”
The scheme will wrap around a historic ventilation tower for the old Wapping railway tunnel below.
The news comes after Bolton firm Forrest Developments fell into administration last year.
Legacie said it follows the successful completion of a series of "high profile" Liverpool developments including Water Street’s Reliance House and Ropemaker Place on Renshaw Street.
The firm also said it is set to deliver the forthcoming Parliament Square development in the Baltic Triangle, for which it is both developer and builder.
Legacie will resume work on The Eight Building this month.
