The Eddy on Netflix release date, cast, trailer, plot for La La Land director's new series

During this rather dull and lifeless lockdown, we could all use a little more music in our lives.

Enter Oscar-winning La La Land director Damien Chazelle (Whiplash, First Man), who has returned with an eight-episode musical series, entitled The Eddy.

BAFTA Award winner Jack Thorne (National Treasure) and six-time Grammy Award winner Glen Ballard collaborated with Chazelle on this massive new project which is set in the vibrant multicultural neighbourhoods of modern-day Paris.

The Eddy focuses mostly on a jazz club of the same name and details the dramas and intrigues that take place there.

Naturally, amidst the romance, crime, and drama that the streets of Paris have to offer in the series - there's also some gorgeous jazz music to enjoy.

However, when can Netflix viewers expect The Eddy on their screens and who stars in the new drama?

The Eddy on Netflix release date

The Eddy is released on Netflix on Friday, May 8, 2020.

All eight episodes will be released on the same day and it is currently unknown whether the show will continue beyond these episodes.

Melissa George as Alison Jenkins

Australian actress and Hollywood star Melissa George has a recurring role in the series.

Others to appear in the series include Adil Dehbi, Benjamin Biolay , Tchéky Karyo, and rapper Sopico.

The Eddy follows a once a celebrated jazz pianist in New York, Elliot Udo, who is now the co-owner of struggling club The Eddy, where he manages the house band fronted by luminous lead singer and his on-again-off-again girlfriend Maja.

As Elliot learns that his business partner Farid may be involved in some questionable practices at the club, and secrets from his own wife, Elliot's world could all come crashing down both professionally and personally.

To add another complication to matters, Elliot's own teenage daughter Julie has arrived in town.
