The early Stoke City vs Swansea City team news as Clucas, McClean and others to miss Championship contest

Sam Clucas will miss Stoke City's Championship clash with former club Swansea City after undergoing surgery on a double hernia injury.

And James McClean - who is currently wearing a protective boot - is facing a significant lay-off due to a foot injury.

Clucas netted in the Potters' 2-0 triumph over the Swans at the bet365 Stadium last term, although he will be unavailable to face his old employers this time around.

The issues have significantly piled up for Michael O'Neill of late.

Striker Tyrese Campbell (knee) and centre-back Nathan Collins (foot) are both out for the remainder of the season while Welsh duo Adam Davies and Morgan Fox are unavailable to face the Swans due to knee ligament and hamstring injuries respectively.

Forward Steven Fletcher missed Stoke's defeat to Brentford with a groin problem, although he will be given every chance to feature against the Swans.

Elsewhere, Wales international Rabbi Matondo is edging closer to a return to action having not featured for Stoke since their 4-1 defeat at Norwich City in mid-February, although the game against Swansea is expected to come too soon for the winger.

Steve Cooper has no fresh injury concerns following his side's 3-1 defeat to Bristol City at the Liberty Stadium.

Kyle Naughton is available, although Ryan Bennett will miss out due to a calf injury.

Wayne Routledge is edging ever closer to a return to action following a period of more than a month on the sidelines due to a calf problem, although he will not be involved against Stoke.

Jordan Morris (ACL), Steven Benda (ankle), Tivonge Rushesha (ACL) and Liam Cullen (ankle) remain sidelined.

Kick-off between the Potters and the Swans is at 8.15pm on Wednesday, March 3.
