The Eagles should have interest in Mississippi State DT Jeffery Simmons

Could you imagine Eagles All-Pro defensive tackle, Fletcher Cox, having a little mini-me to groom and mold on the defensive side of the ball? Cox is a legend at Mississippi State, and the Bulldogs have another legendary defensive tackle coming out in Jeffery Simmons.

Simmons, a former five-star recruit racked up 163 total tackles, including an amazing 33 tackles for loss, and seven sacks in three seasons in Starkville. During his final campaign, Simmons was a game-wrecker, amassing 63 total tackles, 18 tackles for loss and two sacks.

His burst off the line is reminiscent of Cox, and on Tuesday, Fletcher praised his Bulldog brother, breaking down to reporters just how dominant he can be.

Simmons tore his ACL while prepping for the NFL Draft so he could fall right into the Eagles lap. Before his injury, Simmons was a top-10 talent and one of the top defensive tackles in this draft, but he’s now a redshirt candidate and someone who could grow leaps and bounds from watching a player like Fletcher Cox.

Simmons has familiarity with the Eagles and has already been wined and dined by the brass.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound stud amassed 58 tackles, two sacks, and three pass breakups as a junior in the SEC last season and could be a nice compliment to Fletcher Cox inside.

Eagles executive vice president of football operations Howie Roseman is in love with the defenders in this draft and has previously stated that the 2019 class has a historic defensive line group.
