The Duchess of Cambridge has made it to the hairdressers: her new look dissected

Hairdressers are once again open and it seems the Duchess of Cambridge was first in line for a cut and colour.

Despite the nationwide shutdown of salons, the duchess used her virtual meetings during the pandemic as an opportunity to show that she's not afraid to mix it up with her tresses.

At the start of lockdown, the mother-of-three played it safe by nailing the half-up, half-down style which is also favoured by her sister-in-law, Meghan Markle. The simple three-step style steadily became her go-to 'do for her slew of virtual calls.

Next, she went all in with a power ponytail - the ideal pre-salon visit style, perfect for concealing split ends and roots.

And now, as she emerges from her enforced hibernation, Kate has debuted another new 'do.

Joining the string of celebrities who have also undergone lockdown hair transformations (Emily Ratajowski and Kim Kardashian, we're looking at you), the duchess' hair has benefited from ‘bronde’ highlights and Farrah Fawcett-esque face-framing layers.

Kate, who spent lockdown in Norfolk with her family, debuted her fresh locks whilst wearing a polka dot frock from her favourite British brand, Emilia Wickstead (which has unfortunately since sold out) and the Carina espadrille wedges by Castaner (£120, buy now.) The dotty dress may now be out of stock but there is a floral equivalent still available to buy.

The duchess unveiled her fresh look as she promoted the BBC's new resource Tiny Happy People, which is aimed at developing children’s communication and language skills.

During her conversation with the BBC's Louise Minchin, the duchess said: "Families and carers are at the heart of nurturing the next generation of happy, healthy adults, but sometimes it can be hard to know where to turn to for advice."
