'The drugs don't work': Police arrest man after huge knives found in car

A man has been arrested after two 'large' knives with 'six to seven inch blades' were discovered by police.

Officers in Radcliffe stopped a car 'believed to be drug dealing' on Monday, March 1

No drugs were uncovered - but two huge blades measuring between six to seven inches were revealed, police have said.

The knives 'could have caused some serious injuries and are a real concern', added the officers.

The police remarked 'some nerve' in the wake of the finding, also referencing a popular song by The Verve, stating 'the drugs don't work' as they shared that the blades were confiscated.

A man has been arrested, the car seized and driver disqualified.

Enquiries into the incident are still ongoing.

In a post on Greater Manchester Police's Bury North page, officers said: "The drugs don’t work.

"Yet another result from our Radcliffe area team, officers have identified a vehicle believed to be drug dealing in Radcliffe.

"On Monday March 1, 2021, members of the Radcliffe area team have been on patrol in your community when a vehicle has been stopped and two large knives with 6-7 inch blades have been found and recovered.

"Although no drugs were found on this occasion, these knives could have caused some serious injuries and are a real concern therefore have been taken off the streets.

"The vehicle was also seized and taken off the road as the driver was disqualified from driving.

"A male was arrested and inquiries are still ongoing.

"We will continue to work with local residents and communities tackling and disrupting drug dealing in our areas. #LoveRadcliffe #Knifecrime #somenerve #TheVerve"
