The drugs den Swansea underpass you'd probably never want to enter

It's the Swansea underpass you'd probably never want to have to use.

And a year after the state of it was first highlighted, it is still littered with needles and drug paraphernalia.

The floor of the subway, which starts beneath the Swansea railway, is covered with broken glass, wrappers, needles and metal spoons.

We visited the area, just off New Cut Road, last summer where similar discoveries were made , and it seems drug users have continued to congregate there.

And it seems little has changed.

The underpass begins under the railway bridge and links New Cut Road with Jockey Street, one of the roads parallel and just off High Street.

The area, particularly High Street, has recently come under fire with one pub landlord saying he was quitting the area after witnessing violence, prostitution and drug offences .

Similarly, the multi-storey car park in High Street was recently branded "disgusting" and potentially "dangerous" by a Welsh politician who was horrified by what she saw.

Many use the underpass as a shortcut into the town centre and the train station.

Swansea Council has urged people to report discarded needles.

A spokesman said: "We would urge the public to contact the council immediately if they discover discarded needles on public land.

"This will ensure we can remove them as safely and quickly as possible."
