The Dragons v Scarlets player ratings as Welsh fly-half shines and Dragons front-row have day to forget

The Scarlets ran out 41-20 winners over the Dragons at Rodney Parade.

Here's how the players rated...

Will Talbot-Davies 6 v Angus O'Brien 6

Solid enough outing for the Dragons full-back.

Few handling errors from O'Brien, but plenty of nice touches.

Jared Rosser 6 v Steff Evans 8

Solid outing for Rosser, taking his try well down the right wing. Denied a second by the TMO.

The mullet continues to work wonders, with Evans again shining in a try-scoring performance. Loving his rugby at the minute.

Adam Warren 6 v Steff Hughes 7

A battle between two solid centres.

Both probably outshone by their centre partners, but did the basics well. Great finish late on by Warren.

Nick Tompkins 8 v Johnny Williams 7

Lively as ever. A real class-act in the centre. Midfield parted a little easier when he went off.

As for Williams, he's settling in really nicely in the Scarlets backline.

Ashton Hewitt 6 v Johnny McNicholl 8

When Hewitt got in space, he looked dangerous. But suspect under high ball at times.

As for McNicholl, his arching runs looking for gaps are a big part of the Scarlets game. Showed how much he wanted the try.

Sam Davies 7 v Dan Jones 9 (Man of the match)

Both fly-halves showed plenty of nice touches, but it was Jones who came out on top.

A properly interesting battle, with the Scarlets man really coming to the fore as the match wore on.

Rhodri Williams 6 v Kieran Hardy 7

Williams didn't have the easiest of rides behind a struggling pack, with a few nervy moments at times.

Hardy's a real lifewire and will be firmly in Wayne Pivac's mind following Tomos Williams' injury.

Josh Reynolds 4 v Samson Lee 7

The Scarlets prop got on top early on in the scrum and took his try really - forcing his way over.

Eight of the nine first-half scrums more closely resembled mauls which isn't a good sign for Reynolds.

Elliot Dee 5 v Ken Owens 7

The Sheriff came out on top of the Wales hookers in his 250th appearance. Even returned as a prop late on!

Tough day for his deputy in a retreating scrum.

Chris Coleman 3 v Wyn Jones 7

Miserable afternoon for Coleman.

Replaced at the break after being given a torrid time by Wales international Wyn Jones.

Chris Coleman is tackled by Kieran Hardy and Steff Hughes (Chris Fairweather/Huw Evans Agency)

Max Williams 5 v Jake Ball 7

Made his tackles but a struggle for Williams as the Dragons' front-five were outplayed.

Usual graft from Ball and some eye-catching carries.

Matthew Screech 5 v Lewis Rawlins 8

Two unsung heroes going against each other, but Rawlins came out on top.

Fast becoming a vital cog in the Scarlets pack.

Harrison Keddie 5 v Ed Kennedy 7

Won a huge penalty early on as the Scarlets were pushing for a try. Yellow card blotted his copybook though.

Last week's late replacement wasn't as eye-catching, but another solid performance.

Taine Basham 7 v James Davies 8

Abrasive as always, but soft hands for the Dragons' first try. Took his own try well.

Same goes for his opposite number, Cubby Boi, who put in a good showing.

Aaron Wainwright 7 v Sione Kalamafoni 8

Did well off a retreating scrum and was his usual self in defence

Good first carry, bumping off Tompkins. Took his try really well.
