The Downs Festival 2019 weather: Mix of sun and rain forecast for weekend

Those heading to this year's Downs Festival and Madness on the Downs event should prepare for a weekend of mixed weather, according to the latest forcecasts.

Acts including Lauryn Hill , Grace Jones, IDLES and Madness will all perform at Clifton and Durdham Downs on the weekend of Saturday (August 31) and Sunday (September 1).

Doors will open at 1pm on Saturday and the music will finish at 10.30pm later that evening.

On Saturday, the Met Office is forecasting light rain until 4pm, with some sunshine likely later on in the afternoon.

Highs of 19C are also expected during the day.

Ska punk legends Madness are set to begin their set at 1pm the next day.

On Sunday, the weather agency predicts sunshine from 7am until a mixture of light showers and sunny intervals from around 1pm.

Temperatures are set to peak at 17C during the Madness gig.

The Met Office's outlook for later this week says: "It will be drier and fresher on Thursday and mostly dry and bright on Friday.

"Rain spreads eastwards on Saturday, clearing to sunny spells late in the day."
