The Dolphins really did help end the Patriots dynasty as we know it

It is actually over. The Miami Dolphins’ final game against a Tom Brady-led New England Patriots team will be Miami’s 27-24 last moment victory at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough in Week 17. We don’t know where Tom Brady will be playing next season — and the Dolphins may cross paths with him once again before his career is all said and done — but we do now know for certain that Brady will not be among the Patriots to take the field against Miami next season.

Straight from the horse’s mouth, Brady is done in New England.

Brady’s statement this morning thanks anyone and everyone attached to the organization, but the replies to his statement seem to be littered with thankful fans of the rest of the AFC East — glad to see him finally out of their lives.

How long have you dreamt of this? The chance to finally be free of torment from Tom Brady and the New England Patriots? To be fair to New England, this team may very well still be competitive in 2020 and beyond. They may transition effortlessly from one quarterback to another and continue on with their winning ways. But for literally twenty years, Brady and the Patriots have loomed like a black cloud in the AFC East — it almost felt like everyone else was starting with a 2 game deficit before the season even started every year.

And sure enough, the Patriots were a postseason staple and often held serve as a top seed. That was, of course, not the case in 2019 — as the Dolphins stamped out hopes of a first round bye in New England and eventually helped lead to the divorce between the biggest menace the Dolphins have ever known. Congratulations to Tom Brady on an excellent run with the Patriots, but believe us when we tell you we aren’t too sad to see you go.
