The distance shoppers should keep from each other in supermarkets revealed in wake of coronavirus

The distance shoppers should be keeping from each other in supermarkets to help prevent the spread of coronavirus has been revealed.

Following Boris Johnson's speech on Monday about avoiding 'non essential social contact' and adhering to social distancing, many people across the country have been left confused as to a. if they should still be going out of the house at all and b. what action they should be taking if they do.

Appearing on Thursday's Good Morning Britain, Doctor Hilary Jones addressed the matter of the distance we should be keeping from fellow shoppers when we inevitably need to go to the supermarket.

Dr Hilary said: "'People in queues at supermarkets, they should be 2 metres apart if possible."

He added: "Wherever you can; you physically distance yourself from somebody else who could be carrying the virus."

On the subject of supermarkets, Dr Hiliary urged people to "be one of the good people, not one of the idiots," during the coronavirus uncertainty, as more pictures and stories circulate on social media of shoppers queuing up outside stores in the early morning before they open and of empty shelves as people bulk buy things like bread, pasta and of course toilet roll, leading to some items being rationed and many supermarkets opening an hour earlier for people in vulnerable groups.

As you can see in the video above, Dr Hilary told Lorraine he'd like to see more staff in supermarkets to "look after supermarket staff as well," and "then only two of anyone thing."
