The Disney Magic Cruise Ship is back in Liverpool and there's a huge party on shore to celebrate

The Disney Magic cruise liner is stopping in Merseyside this week as part of its seven-night tour of Britain.

The 11 deck 1,000 foot vessel will arrive in Liverpool on Friday, September 13, and  those who haven't booked on to the ship will be able to see the iconic Disney-themed vessel docked at Liverpool Cruise Terminal.

On it's fourth journey to the city, the Disney Magic will carry 1754 passengers and 915 crew members across the Irish Sea from Belfast, before docking at the Princes Dock at around 7am.

The ship will remain in Liverpool for the day, before a special "sail-away" show at 6pm, complete with a musical and confetti-cannon finale.

The team at Cruise Liverpool have organised a massive after-school party starting at 3pm to celebrate the arrival - and departure - of the vessel, right on the waterfront.

The popular Magic on the Mersey is a free-to-attend family-friendly party and is open to Disney fans of all ages, both on and off the ship.

Organisers say the event will take over Princes Parage and bring it to life wth a vibrant and colourful street animation and face painting - plus appearances from some very special guests.

Guests can expect to see performances from local acts the Adam Brown Dance Company, Movema, Pagoda Arts and other live entertainment right on the Quayside.

Visitors are also encouraged to wear their favourite Disney fancy dress to the party.

The liner started its UK tour on Wednesday at Belfast.

In true Disney style, the ship is painted in the same colour scheme as Mickey Mouse - black, white and red.  The ship’s horn is even true to style and plays a section of the Disney classic song “When You Wish Upon a Star” from the classic hit Pinocchio.

A host of iconic Disney stars including Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Rapunzel join the passengers and crew as it travels around the coast of Britain.

There are also four captain's upon the vessel as in addition to the ship’s Captain, people will also find Captain Mickey, Captain Hook and Captain Jack Sparrow.

Those lucky enough to be on-board the huge themed vessel are treated to Disney-inspired live shows in the Walt Disney Theatre, open-air music and dance extravaganza deck parties and Rapunzel’s Royal Table, a restaurant inspired by the Disney hit animation.

There’s also a 'Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique' which offers passengers head-to-toe makeovers for budding young princesses, pirates and knights.

And for older guests there are a range of fine-dining restaurants and an adults-only lounge inspired by the famed piano bars of Hollywood’s heyday.

Prices for a family of four start at around £5,000.
