The 'disgusting' decision that killed Cardiff Blues' play-off hopes and left fans fuming at the PRO14

Cardiff Blues lost 29-22 to Connacht this afternoon, meaning they'll miss out on the Guinness PRO14 post-season this year.

In winning, the Galway outfit wrapped up the third and final play-off spot in Conference A, leaving the Blues and Ospreys scrapping for a place in the Champions Cup play-off.

But the game was doused in controversy, particularly in the final quarter of the match.

In the 61st minute, with the wind now at their backs, the Blues seemed to have taken a huge step towards getting back into the game having fallen 24-10 behind.

Jason Harries dived over in the corner but Scottish referee Mike Adamson wanted to check with Irish TMO Ken Henley-Willis.

It was the man in the booth who first said it was a no try and Adamson was inclined to agree.

Touch judge George Clancy came in to encourage the man in the middle to take a second look but he adjudged that Harries' hand landed touch in goal at the exact moment the ball went down.

It took the Cardiff Blues 10 more minutes before they scored their next points and eventually lost the game by seven points.

It was a huge call and the moment on which the match was decided.

Freeze frames of the incident (as seen above) appear to show that Harries got the ball down fractionally before his hand hit the turf.

Officials requested to see the exact moment of grounding but still determined the winger's hand was down.

It left fans fuming on Twitter.
