The Devonshire: London’s most anticipated pub set to open in Soho this October

The celebrated landlord Oisín Rogers is teaming up with Flat Iron founder Charlie Carroll to open The Devonshire, a much anticipated Soho pub and restaurant tucked away behind Piccadilly Circus.

Opening in October, The Devonshire, a sweeping, wood panelled building dating back to 1793, will house a relaxed pub downstairs, serving quality beer and homemade bar food making use of the site’s in-house butchery and bakery.

Customers will be welcome at all times of the day to prop up the bar with a Guinness and a “fat sausage roll”, said the pair.

Upstairs, Rogers and Carroll are opening a "highly ambitious" wood-ember grill, a long-awaited idea both have been talking about for years.

In the restaurant, the duo has sourced beef from Scotland to be dry-aged and butchered on site, with the likes of rib chops, fillets, and stout and beef skirt suet puddings on the way.

Also on the grill menu will be creel caught langoustines from Oban, hand-dived scallops from Devon, and prime day boat fish.

The Devonshire will also serve a pared-back, classic three course menu for lunch and dinner, with dishes such as prawn and langoustine cocktail, steak and chips, and sticky toffee pudding.

Carroll said: “Osh and I have been talking about our dream pub for almost a decade; somewhere warm, welcoming and accessible to all, where the team really care about looking after you and about the quality of each and every bit of food and drink served.

“I can’t wait to have a pint and a homemade bacon sarnie.”

Rogers, best-known for his time running The Ship in Wandsworth, and The Guinea Grill, Mayfair, added: “I am delighted, excited and fortunate to be working with Charlie at full tilt on this. I can’t wait to be back behind the bar pulling pints again when we open in the Autumn.”

More information about the interiors, drinks list and food menus are expected later in the summer.
