Better break out your fanciest digs and gird your loins, because the movie gods have heard our prayers. Amid all the on-and-off speculation for the last TWO DECADES, a Devil Wears Prada sequel is now headed our way. Get ready to step back into the cutthroat world of high fashion and the reign of Queen Miranda Priestly.
So, when will the sequel drop? Who’ll star in it? Here’s all the tea we know so far.
What is the release date of The Devil Wears Prada 2?
In good news, it doesn’t look like we’re going to be waiting ages, because Disney has officially confirmed the movie will drop next year.
Coming in hot off the presses — the release date has been confirmed as May 1, 2026. Mark your calendars, folks!!

Who will star in The Devil Wears Prada 2?
I know what you’re thinking: Is the ol’ Runway magazine crew getting back together??
Thing is, even though we’ve now got an official release date, there’s actually no confirmed cast list yet.
The Puck offered some hints last year, reporting Meryl Streep will return to grace our screens again as Miranda Priestly, as will Emily Blunt.
Original director David Frankel and producer Wendy Finerman are returning, and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is back on script duties, per Collider.

As for the rest of the divas? That’s less clear, but we do know that Stanley Tucci — who played art director Nigel Green — is definitely game.
“I know they’re working on it. If it happens, I would be so happy, but I cannot give you any information. Otherwise, I’ll go to the actor’s prison or something. [The original] was one of the best experiences ever,” he told Variety back in January.
Prior to this, he told E! News that he’d “revisit [the film] in a second”.
“Listen, it was a great experience, right?” he explained.
“My hope is, if it happens — obviously we’d have to work out all the logistics — but it’d be a fun thing for everybody.”

Also, I’m just going to say it: I’m not entirely ruling out Anne Hathaway either. Just last year, she reunited with Streep and Blunt at the 2024 SAG Awards, where Blunt quoted Miranda Priestley as she sarcastically quipped “by all means, move at a glacial pace” at Streep for taking too long to open the winner’s envelope.
A cheeky reference to the sequel? It’s a reach but I’ll take it!!
What will the sequel to The Devil Wears Prada be about?
When the first movie ended like it did *chefs kiss* you gotta wonder where things will go from here.
Some fans are wondering if it’ll follow the books, given Lauren Weisberger — who wrote The Devil Wears Prada novel that the film is based on — wrote her own sequel in 2016 titled Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns.
She’s also written When Life Gives You Lululemons, which is centred on Blunt’s character Emily (rather than Hathaway’s Andy.)

According to reports last year, a sequel could feature a plot in which Priestly is still editor-in-chief of Runway Magazine years later, but the magazine is facing the wrath of the decline of the traditional publishing industry.
She’ll reportedly have to face off against none other than her former assistant Emily, who’s now a powerful executive at a luxury brand after getting booted off that Paris trip. TLDR; Runway Magazine needs money and Emily’s company’s got it, so will Miranda Priestley manage to snag that deal?
To reiterate, this is all pretty much speculation. But I lowkey love a good ol’ tale about the tables turning.
Is there a trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2?
It’s been a looong 19 years (!!!) since the first film dropped in 2006, so of course we’d all love a peep at what a part two looks like.
Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait just a little longer, because there’s no trailer yet.
Don’t fret, you know we’ll be updating this as soon as one drops!
