The Devil Wears Prada 2 announces jaw-dropping new cast list, from Simone Ashley to Timothée Chalamet's sister

Gird your loins! The Devil Wears Prada 2 cast list has just been announced, and it has so many famous faces that you’re going to need a full document to memorise them, à la Andy and Ambassador Franklin.

The sequel is already known to have enlisted its original cast members to reprise their roles as characters Miranda (Meryl Streep), Andy (Anne Hathaway) and Emily (Emily Blunt) from the first film.

But the project appears to be a real star magnet, with famous faces from across the world of film, TV and comedy signing on to the new iteration.

This includes the likes of Charlie’s Angels star Lucy Liu and former Bridgerton lead Simone Ashley, who recently made headlines after her role in Brad Pitt’s F1: The Movie was controversially cut.

They join Kenneth Branagh on the bumper new cast list, with the British actor reportedly cast as Miranda’s ex-husband. Also joining is The Office actor BJ Novak, comedian Caleb Hearon and Broadway actress Helen J Shen. Plus, a potential new love interest arrives in the form of Mulholland Drive star (and Jennifer Aniston’s ex) Justin Theroux.

The Sex Lives of College Girls actor Pauline Chalamet has also been added to the cast. And yes, if you recognise that last name: she’s Timothée Chalamet’s older sister.

Stanley Tucci will also return as Nigel, a fan favourite from the first Devil Wears Prada film. Two more recognisable characters have also confirmed their return: Tracie Thoms, who played Andy’s best friend Lily, and Tibor Feldman, who played Elias-Clark chairman Irv Ravitz.

The film, released in 2006, was inspired by Lauren Weisberger’s account of working as an assistant to Anna Wintour at Vogue. Wintour served as the Editor-in-Chief of American Vogue for 37 years in total. She announced she would be stepping back this June, but will retain senior positions at its publisher, Condé Nast.

The Devil Wears Prada is directly based on Weisberger’s book of the same name. The hit novel was followed by four others (Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, Chasing Harry Winston, Everyone Worth Knowing, Last Night at Chateau Marmont). However, the sequel appears to be entirely unrelated to Weisberger’s subsequent material.

According to Variety, the story reportedly follows Miranda Priestly as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing. She faces off against Blunt’s character, her one-time assistant who is now a high-powered executive for a luxury group, with advertising dollars that Priestly “desperately needs.”

Much faith has been placed in the Devil Wears Prada sequel due to its consistency. David Frankel, who directed the 2006 film, is returning, along with Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the original screenplay, and producer Karen Rosenfelt.

The film is currently in production at Disney’s 20th Century Studios and is set to open theatrically on May 1, 2026.
