The decision Arsenal fans made vs Eintracht Frankfurt that could seal Unai Emery's fate

Arsenal legend Martin Keown believes the end is near for Unai Emery and he feels that a key decision by the fans is proof.

Keown is a big supporter of Emery as a person but when it comes to his ability to manage the Gunners, the former star defender insists the board now have a tough decision to make over whether to retain the 48-year-old.

Emery's latest blow came on Thursday thanks to a 2-1 defeat at home to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League. Whilst qualification through to the knockout stages is still highly likely, supporters booed the performance at the end of the game amid a Premier League campaign which also sees Arsenal eighth in the top tier.

But even more depressing than that was the lack of energy from a sparse crowd at the Emirates Stadium for the encounter against Frankfurt, something which Keown says is the concrete evidence that Emery is close to departing the capital.

"I feel it’s very sad. I feel for the fans now, there is hardly anyone there tonight and they’re voting with their feet, they know what was coming there," Keown told BT Sport.

"Where is the desire, where is the identity of the football club? There was a brand of football that Arsene Wenger had produced there and it has ebbed away far too quickly. We’ve got to get it back."
