The debut of 2021’s fireable coach rankings, starring Urban Meyer

There are few jobs in America as volatile as NFL head coach. While a few standbys have been successful enough to write their own lifetime contracts, the vast majority of the league’s sideline generals are subject to weekly reviews. One rough stretch could lead to unemployment at a moment’s notice, leaving nothing but millions of dollars in contractually obligated salary to comfort them.

The typical day of reckoning is Black Monday, the first weekday following the regular season. NFL teams, in need of fresh ideas to transform losing teams, jettison worn-out coaches for bright up-and-comers, experienced retreads, or some combination of the two.

Not every struggling coach will make it that far. In-season firings are typically reserved for the most underperforming NFL teams. There are usually one or two every year. 2021 will be no different.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the most fireable coaches through four weeks of the regular season.
