The deaths of 21 more people from coronavirus recorded in the South West

The deaths of 21 more people who had the Covid-19 coronavirus in hospitals in the South West region have been recorded today (Thursday, February 25).

Nine of those people died this week, and the other 12 died earlier this month or last month and their deaths have only now been added to the total.

It’s one of the lowest daily figures since December, and comes as the daily national total for deaths from Covid-19 recorded today was 323.

Only the South East region, excluding London, had a lower daily death record than the South West region.

Three other deaths of people in hospitals in the South West were recorded where the person who died had not had a Covid-19 test, but coronavirus was mentioned on their death certificate as a cause of death.

Nationally, three of those 323 people who died were aged under 40 and 28 people were aged under 60 whose deaths from Covid-19 were recorded today.

In Gloucestershire, the Gloucestershire Royal Hospitals NHS Trust recorded two more deaths of people who were patients in their hospitals and died after testing positive for Covid-19.

In Bristol, three more deaths at Southmead Hospital were recorded today, along with six at the hospitals run by the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Trust, which run the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Weston General.

In Somerset, there were two deaths recorded by the RUH in Bath, seven more people died in hospitals run by the University Hospitals Dorset NHS Trust, and one person’s death was recorded by the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospitals Trust.
