The death of a woman found at a house in Cheadle is not being treated as suspicious by police.

Officers were called to a report of concern for the welfare of a woman at a house on Councillor Lane on Saturday (January 4).

A woman, believed to be aged in her 30s, was found dead.

An investigation was launched as the property was taped off.

Police were originally called to the house at 9.15pm.

The scene has now been closed and the death is being treated as non-suspicious.

A statement released by Greater Manchester Police read: "Police were called at 9.15pm on Saturday, January 4, 2020 to a report of concern for the welfare of a woman at a property on Councillor Lane, Cheadle.

"Emergency services attended and sadly found the body of a woman, believed to be aged in her 30s, at the scene.

"The scene has now been closed and the death is not being treated as suspicious."
