The Dapper Mongoose in Shawlands makes 'difficult decision' to close after staff member linked to coronavirus case

A restaurant in Glasgow's south side has closed after a staff member was linked to a positive coronavirus case.

The Dapper Mongoose on Kilmarnock Road posted on social media to let customers know that they have taken the "difficult decision" to close temporarily.

Bosses explained that the safety of guests and staff is their priority.

A statement posted by the Shawlands restaurant reads: "We have been contacted by test and protect service to say that one of our staff has been identified as a close contact to a positive COVID-19 case.

"The safety of our guests and staff is our priority, and in light of this we have taken the very difficult decision to close.

"While we have strictly followed all the government guidance, these things are out with our control."

A reopening date has yet to be confirmed but customers are advised to keep an eye on their social media for an update.

A growing number of businesses have been forced to temporarily close over recent weeks after being linked to coronavirus cases.

As previously reported by Glasgow Live , Phillies of Shawlands, Bag o Nails in Partick, The Botany in Maryhill and Paesano on Miller Street are among the businesses connected to positive cases.

All have since reopened after deep cleaning.
