The Daniels: more wise works

Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known collectively as The Daniels, won Oscars this year for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for their film Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Besides the golden Academy Award statuettes, they'd earlier received numerous accolades for the surreal sci-fi film including Best Director from the Critics' Choice Movie Awards; Outstanding Direction - Feature Film from the Directors Guild of America Awards; Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures from the Producers Guild of America Awards; Best Original Screenplay from the Writers Guild of America Awards; and Best Director from the Hollywood Critics Association Film Awards.

Yet apart from Everything Everywhere, The Daniels likewise have written and directed other well-received feature films, short films and music videos in recent years. Here are some of their more noteworthy works.

Swiss Army Man (feature film)

Starring Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe, this 2016 film tells the story of a hopeless man stranded on a deserted island who befriends a dead body. Together they go on a surreal journey to get home.

It won Best Film from the Americana Film Festival in 2017 and Best Directing from the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. Now available on YouTube.

Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens, Grandma & Chill episode (television series)

The Daniels directed this single episode from the Comedy Central series wherein Awkwafina star Nora Lum navigates young adulthood in Flushing, New York, alongside her cousin with help from Nora's father and grandmother. The episode was first aired in 2020 and is now available on YouTube.

Turn Down For What (music video)

The Oscar-winning directing duo shot this music video back in 2013 for DJ Snake and Lil Jon. It was nominated in the Best Music Video category at the 2015 Grammy Awards. The music video can be viewed on YouTube.

Houdini (music video)

The Grammy-nominated music video from American indie pop band Foster The People was directed by The Daniels in 2011. Now available on YouTube.
