The 'dangerous' tactic from his time at Man United that Jose Mourinho is using at Tottenham

Arsenal legend Martin Keown has told Jose Mourinho to avoid what he described as a 'dangerous' tactic that he has brought from his Manchester United career to Tottenham.

Mourinho fell out with his former players at United during the 2018/19 season, something which led to his exit in December 2018 from the club as he in many ways lost the dressing room.

Stars such as Paul Pogba didn't see eye to eye with the Portuguese manager, who has never been afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve and criticise his teams over the years.

Mourinho is attempting to adapt his style of play at Spurs, which includes potentially altering some of his pragmatic approaches to games.

But motivation is always a key part of Mourinho's skill set, though former Arsenal star Keown feels that barking orders out at his players left, right and centre during matches can also have a negative impact.

Keown was on expert commentary duties for Spurs' FA Cup clash against Middlesbrough on Tuesday evening and he had this to say about Mourinho's sideline antics.

"Just looking at Mourinho down on the touchline, he's constantly clapping his hands more than I've ever seen him do so at any of his other clubs," Keown told the BBC.

"This is perhaps his biggest challenge in 18 years of football management. And it looks like it's about trying to motivate this group which is still wounded after that Champions League final defeat. Has the club really recovered?

"I think he wants to get into his players, it's in his nature. But I think it's dangerous to do that."
