The dangerous tackle from Josh Turnbull in Zebre v Cardiff Blues that resulted in first red card of the season

Cardiff Blues were down to 14 men after Josh Turnbull was given his marching orders in the opening game of the new Guinness PRO14 season.

John Mulvihill's side travelled to Parma to face Italian side Zebre and enjoyed a dominant first half which gave them a seven-point cushion at the break thanks to a Josh Adams try putting them 10-3 up.

But just a few minutes into the second half, Blues No. 8 Josh Turnbull was sent off for a shoulder to the head of Zebre flanker Maxime Mbandà.

In making a tackle, Turnbull connected with the side of the head/neck area of the blindside and referee George Clancy decided it was serious foul play after checking the replays.

The potentially game-changing moment of the game, broadcast live on Premier Sports, was captured on camera.

The red card offence - the first of the new 2020/21 PRO season, given it was the opening game - led to a penalty, which Carlo Canna landed, to narrow the gap and bring the score to 6-10.

But, despite being a man down, the Blues actually extended their lead through the boots of Jarrod Evans and Jason Tovey and finished with a 16-6 win.
