Electric mobility is no longer just about silent scooters and sleek city commuters. These days, it's taking on all shapes and sizes: from retro-inspired cafe racers to full-blown off-roaders. And among the most exciting segments right now? Dual-sport dirtbikes and scramblers that blur the line between urban cool and trail-ready toughness.
One brand riding that wave with serious flair is France’s DAB Motors. Known for its boutique approach to bike building, DAB made its name crafting stylish, minimalist machines that lean heavy on design and craftsmanship. Now, it’s bringing that same energy to the electric world with the all-new DAB 1α X—a high-end electric scrambler that’s part tech showcase, part sustainable design statement.
But it's too expensive.
Built at Peugeot’s historic factory in Mandeure, France, the 1α X isn’t your typical EV. Under the sleek, handcrafted bodywork sits a 25.5 kW (34.6 hp) brushless DC motor with a massive 395 Nm of torque. Power comes from a 7.1 kWh battery offering up to 150 km (93 miles) of range. Charging takes around three hours on a standard outlet thanks to the onboard charger, and there’s a handy “Nitrous” button for short bursts of extra grunt when you want it.
True to its scrambler spirit, it’s ready for dirt as much as it is for downtown. It rolls on Pirelli Scorpion Rally STRs, while fully adjustable Paioli suspension with TIN Gold treatment ensures it can take a beating. Brembo brakes with dual-channel ABS handle stopping duties. The total package weighs in at just 125 kg (275 pounds) and can hit 130 kilometers per hour (81 miles per hour).

But what really sets the 1α X apart is its detail work. The subframe is crafted from upcycled carbon fiber originally used in Airbus aircraft. The seat is trimmed in Alcantara. The frame and finishes are top-tier. Even the battery is designed to be repairable and recyclable—nodding to DAB’s sustainability mission.
Of course, all that style and tech comes at a price: $16,725, plus shipping. And while that includes a two-year warranty and global delivery, it’s still a serious chunk of change—especially for a bike that’s more of a toy than anything else.

So who’s it for? Probably not your average commuter or casual trail rider. The 1α X is aimed at riders who value craftsmanship, design, and exclusivity as much as performance. Think of it as the two-wheeled equivalent of a high-end electric sports car—one you can actually take off-road.
Will it sell? Probably, but not in huge numbers. And maybe that’s the point. The DAB 1α X isn’t here to be everyone’s e-bike. It’s here to show what electric motorcycles can be: fun, fast, functional, and undeniably cool.
