While most Scottish birds hope their partner will pop the question with a shiny stone from Tiffany's, penguins at Edinburgh Zoo are want something something a little bit cheaper.
This the adorable reason the capital's penguins are fighting over pebbles.
As part of their heartwarming mating ritual, gentoo penguins propose by presenting each other with the prettiest pebble they can find.
But it is not just love in the air with the males taking it so seriously, as it can lead to uproar as the battle over the best stone available heats up.
The humble gesture is huge in the community with males using their 'versions of engagement rings' to bag the best bird.
