The current situation surrounding Cardiff City's Bobby Reid amid surprise Bristol City and Fulham links

Bobby Reid would be interested in a return to Bristol City, however any potential move could hinge on whether Cardiff City are successful in recruiting another forward of their own.

emerged last night that Reid, who moved to the Welsh capital in a £10m deal last summer, is a target for his former club, who are in the market for an attacker. And Fulham are also in the mix, according to Sky Sports .

The Robins were tracking Arsenal prodigy Eddie Nketiah, but that deal appears to be dead in the water with the player seemingly destined to join Championship rivals Leeds United on a season-long loan.

So it is thought Bristol have turned their attentions to Reid, an academy product who is held in high regard across the Severn.

Bristol sources claim Reid, 26, still spends much of his time in his home city, having grown up there and still having many friends and family there, which makes it more likely he is open to a return.

But with Neil Warnock earmarking Reid as his first choice to play in behind the striker, the talented forward's departure would be a huge blow to Cardiff .

The Bluebirds are certainly keeping their cards close to their chest, but there is expected to be activity before the deadline shuts at 5pm today, both in terms of incomings and outgoings.

Cardiff are reportedly interested in bringing in Isaac Vassell from Birmingham City, but it is not known at this stage whether his arrival will impact Reid's future.

Vassell is the most likely arrival at the Cardiff City Stadium today after he was omitted from the Blues' Carabao Cup defeat by Portsmouth on Tuesday night.

Warnock is certainly keen to bolster his options up top — he wants ample competition for new signing Robert Glatzel — and Cardiff are reportedly closing in on a deal for Birmingham's 25-year-old striker.

It is likely that one of Cardiff's current frontmen will leave if Vassell arrives, however it was thought that it would be one of Danny Ward, Gary Madine or Omar Bogle rather than Reid.

Elsewhere, another midfielder and potentially a right back could be signed, while the futures of Loic Damour and Greg Cunningham remain uncertain.
