The crushing promotion verdict that will interest Nottingham Forest, Leeds and West Brom fans

Nottingham Forest are not quite good enough to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League, according to one Sky Sports pundit.

The Reds are currently battling with a host of clubs to achieve promotion to the top flight, and remain in a good position with 11 league matches left to play.

West Bromwich Albion are currently leading the division, while Leeds United occupy the final automatic promotion spot, six points above Forest.

Fulham, Brentford and Preston North End make up the rest of the play-off spots alongside Forest, with clubs just outside the top six striving to climb up the table in the final months of the season.

Former Manchester City defender and current Sky Sports pundit Andy Hinchcliffe believes Forest are not good enough to finish in the top two this season.

Hinchcliffe feels Forest will book a place in the play-offs, alongside Fulham and Brentford, but adds that the race for the final spot is up in the air.

“I’ve always said if you finish above Leeds you get promoted,” said Hinchcliffe on Sky Sports’ The Debate show.

“I do think Leeds and West Brom will finish in the top two.

“Those two teams are the most consistent, they’re the best teams in the league.

“Fulham, Brentford and Nottingham Forest are good teams but they’re not the top two.”

Hinchcliffe was then asked who would claim the final play-off place, to which he responded: “Fulham, Brentford and Nottingham Forest. Then the final play-off place is open.”
