The Crown slammed by Diana's friends for filming her final hours before tragic death

Princess Diana 's friends have taken aim at The Crown as the Netflix series is spotted filming the moments leading up to her death.

Witnesses have claimed the fictional drama recently shot scenes involving Elizabeth Debicki, who plays the late star in upcoming series, in a black Mercedes just 100 yards from the Alma tunnel, Paris - where Diana tragically died in 1997.

A new trailer for the upcoming series of The Crown has dramatised the infamous Panorama interview with Diana - something that sparked fury online upon its release last week.

Further controversary has now been caused thanks to the show seemingly appear to film the late mum-of-two's final hours, despite Netflix bosses previously claiming the "exact moment" of the crash will not be shown on screen.

Reacting to witness claims The Crown has recently been shooting King Charles' ex-wife's final moments, Debbie Frank, who was Diana's astrologer, claims the release of the Netflix series will be 'terrible' for Prince William and Harry to process.

"It's obviously terrible for Diana's children to have to see that again. It's insensitive," she told the Mail.

"I feel Diana's death and the crash was the biggest shock our generation. It had such a huge impact across the national psyche.

“I guess the makers of The Crown feel they are entitled to show a re-enactment of scenes leading up to her death and that it has dramatic impact. But relatives would think otherwise."

Debbie's comments follow another close friend of Diana's claiming the existence of the Netflix series forced Prince William and Harry to relive "the most painful time" of their lives.

"These are cruel, sadistic and wicked people to recreate these moments. They are the lowest of the low," Simone Simmons told The Sun.

"They are rewriting history as they go along and that’s what makes me very angry."

She went on to ask why "these callous, insensitive people" feel the need to recreate "that horrible day" on screen.

The fifth series of the royal drama, which is set to launch on November 9, will take inspiration from the pressure put upon the monarchy as Charles and Diana’s marriage was collapsing and in the lead-up to Diana's infamous interview with Martin Bashir in 1995.

Prince William is said to have has made his feelings "very clear" about hit Netflix show The Crown featuring the death of his mother Diana and her interview with Martin, according to reports.

Diana's tell-all interview was watched by an estimated 200 million people and became one of the most-talked about moments of the 20th century, but in 2021, a BBC investigation, launched by Diana's brother Earl Charles Spencer, found that Martin commissioned fake bank statements in order to mislead Diana into telling her story.

Prince William and Harry issued a joint statement denouncing the Panorama interview in May 2021, saying, "It is my view that the deceitful way the interview was obtained substantially influenced what my mother said. The interview was a major contribution to making my parents' relationship worse and has since hurt countless others."

A source told The Telegraph earlier this month that the future king feels The Crown are using the Bashir interview and the "dramatisation of it for financial gain".
