The Crown’s Emma Corrin screams on hearing she has been nominated for a Golden Globe

Emma Corrin screamed and jumped with delight on hearing she had been nominated for a Golden Globe on Wednesday afternoon (2 February).

The Crown star shot to fame for her uncanny portrayal of Princess Diana in the Netflix hit, which also saw its star Olivia Colman get a nod for her performances as the Queen.

In a video on social media, Corrin can be seen sitting with her flatmates and watching the Best Actress in a TV Drama category be announced.

As her name is called, she jumps out of her seat and shrieks, running around the room.

“It was very surreal,” she told the LA Times.

The 78th annual Golden Globe Awards will be presented as a virtual event this year due to Covid-19. The event will take place on Sunday 28 February, with Amy Poehler and Tina Fey returning to host.

This year’s Globes nominations were met with bafflement by many, who questioned why derided shows such as Emily in Paris were recognised, while others like Michaela Coel’s I May Destroy You were ignored completely.
