The Crown's Emma Corrin joins Harry Styles in LGBTQ+ romantic drama My Policeman

Emma Corrin has been cast opposite Harry Styles in a LGBTQ+ romantic drama.

The English actress, 25, rose to prominence for her recent performance as Princess Diana in Netflix royal drama The Crown.

Now according to Mail Online, Emma has been cast opposite Harry Styles, 27, in the upcoming adaptation of Bethan Roberts' acclaimed novel My Policeman.

The film will reportedly begin shooting in April and will be directed by Michael Grandage.

The story follows two time periods, one in the 1950s and the other in the 1990s.

In the earlier period set in post-war Brighton, Emma will play Marion, a schoolteacher who falls for her best friend's older brother Tom (Styles) who is a policeman.

Due to social constraints at the time, Tom marries Marion, despite his being in love for museum curator Patrick.

The role of Patrick in these post-war scenes has yet to be cast.

Three stars have yet to be announced for the roles of the characters when they are older in the 1990s scenes.

The new role for Emma Corrin comes off the back of two major award nominations for her role as Diana, Princess of Wales in The Crown.

The actress is now nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Drama and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.

Emma is also reported to reprise the role of Diana in flashback sequences in The Crown's fifth season, while Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki (Tenet, The Great Gatsby) will take on the role of the Princess of Wales in her final years.

Meanwhile, after beginning his film career in Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk in 2017, pop star Harry Styles will next be seen in the film Don't Worry Darling opposite Oscar-nominated British actress Florence Pugh.
