The Crown fans spot major blunder in season 3 trailer

Fans of The Crown have spotted an error in the trailer for The Crown - but there's a catch.

The first full look at what fans can expect from the return of the Netflix royal drama was released online earlier this week.

Olivia Colman can be seen in the footage taking on the role of The Queen from the acclaimed Claire Foy , opposite the likes of Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip and Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret.

Despite containing a lot of buzz-worthy moments, some fans were quick to point out an error early in the trailer.

In a piece of audio heard speaking about the Queen's Silver Jubilee, a broadcaster says: "This is Jubilee Day. This is a day as a gruelling as the Queen's Coronation twenty-five years ago."

Many noted that while the Jubilee was twenty-five years after the Queen ascended to the throne on the death of her father, it was actually 24 years since the Coronation, which was held after some delay in 1953.

However, the blunder that fans spotted is actually, in and of itself, historically accurate.

The error was made live on air on the morning of the Jubilee by BBC presenter Andy Price, with the producers of The Crown showing their eye for detail by keeping the mistake in.

So, we can marvel at the show's period detail once more!

The Crown season 3 is released on Netflix on November 17, 2019.
