On the prospect of a second series, Kate recently said: "I would absolutely love to play Mare again. I miss her. I really do. It's the strangest thing. I feel like I'm in mourning.

"It was an absolutely wonderful role... There's something very addictive about Mare, because she's so outrageous and lovable and brilliant and real, you know? I loved playing her."
In 2011, Kate won the The Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for playing the titular role in Mildred Pierce.
Elsewhere, in the same category for Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie category is Paul Bettany for his role in WandaVision, Hugh Grant in The Undoing, Ewan McGregor as fashion designer Halston in the Netflix series, Lin-Manuel Miranda in Hamilton, and Leslie Odom, Jr. for his role in Hamilton.

In the Lead Actor and Actress categories for Drama, there is a mixture of nominations for The Crown, The Handmaid's Tale and Lovecraft Country.
