The Cristiano Ronaldo gesture that has everyone talking after Juventus defeat

Juventus' 23-year wait for a Champions League trophy continues after the Serie A club were beaten by Ajax in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.

The Italian giants, who last won the competition in 1996, saw their hopes of claiming a third European title ended as the Dutch side sealed a 2-1 away win to book a semi-final meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.

Cristiano Ronaldo's 28th-minute header appeared to put Massimiliano Allegri's side on course for the last four before goals from Donny van de Beek and Matthijs de Ligt sealed a famous win for the Eridivisie team.

Ronaldo, who netted a stunning hat-trick against Atletico Madrid in the previous round, was aiming to win the Champions League for the fourth season in a row following his summer arrival from Real Madrid .

The quarter-final exit also means that the five-time winner won't feature in the last four of the competition for the first time since the 2009/2010 campaign and didn't hide his disappointment after the match.

Following the full-time whistle, footage showed Ronaldo making a gesture which appeared to suggest that Juventus s*** themselves, but it wasn't clear who the 34-year-old was aiming it at.

Since the Champions League exit, Cristiano Ronaldo 'to leave Juventus two years early unless changes are made' have claimed that the Juventus forward is already eyeing the exit unless he sees immediate improvements from the Serie A side.

And Ronaldo's mother, Dolores Aveiro confirmed his disappointment after the loss.

How Cristiano Ronaldo reacted to Juventus' shock Champions League exit

"He was sad, he would have liked to go to the final," Aveiro was reported as telling Gazzetta dello Sport .

"What did he say to me? 'Mum, I don't work miracles'.

“In the Champions League, a bit of luck has been missing but we can't do anything about it, life goes on.”
