Per Brobible, the Maye Musk account then tweeted, “Your mom told me she was cleaning toilets in a Liverpool boarding house as a child. When I met her in 1966, she was sewing linings for a furrier in a small windowless room behind the store.”
The problem is that Maye Musk is his mother. By writing from the perspective of someone speaking to Elon about his own mother, the account created a clear inconsistency that users quickly picked up on. Since Elon has a known history of roleplaying as family members on social media, many concluded he simply forgot which account he was logged into.
