Tottenham left-back Ben Davies experienced one of the “craziest” nights of his footballing career in Amsterdam and is hoping for a similar outcome there this weekend.
The full-back was a member of the Spurs side that came back from 3-0 down on aggregate against Ajax in the semi-finals of the 2019 Champions League.
Brazilian forward Lucas Moura netted three goals, including a 96th-minute equaliser that saw Tottenham progress to the final on away goals at the Johan Cruyff Arena
Davies, who came on in the last 15 minutes of that tie, is hoping for similar success at the same venue this weekend with Wales facing Denmark in their Euro 2020 last 16 tie on Saturday.
However, the 28-year-old admitted he would prefer there to be a little bit less drama when he visits the Dutch capital this time around.
"It was a pretty crazy night that one", he told The Mirror.
"If we can do something similar again I will definitely take it. I would prefer it go a lot more smoothly for us than that game though. It looks like we have a decent chance next round."
Davies has been a stalwart of the Wales side in recent years, winning an impressive 63 caps for The Dragons since his international debut nine years ago.
He was an integral part of the side who impressed at Euro 2016, helping guide his side to the semi-finals in what was a memorable tournament for Chris Coleman's side.
Davies continued: "After the last tournament there was maybe a bit more pressure on us, pressure we had put on ourselves to try and repeat what we did.
"Getting out of the group, I don't think too many people gave us a chance before. It is an incredible achievement for us. Now we go again and the fun starts".
