The Cowboys waited until the Eagles’ playoff game to fire Jason Garrett

Despite Jason Garrett making it past “Black Monday” without a formal announcement of his Dallas Cowboys ousting, it’s been all-but-assured that Garrett’s time with Dallas was done.

Garrett coached the season on an expiring contract, which technically negated Dallas’ obligation to formally fire him. Jerry Jones could have just ghosted him, I guess. But according to Jay Glazer and multiple reports, the Cowboys did eventually inform Garrett that he’d no longer be the Cowboys’ head coach.

They just chose to let that news break, oh, during the Philadelphia Eagles’ playoff game against the Seahawks. The Cowboys had all week to let this news get out there, but you have to appreciate the pettiness to undercut a rival’s time in the spotlight of the postseason.

According to Ian Rapoport, Garrett allowed (?) the Cowboys to fire him.

The news in itself wasn’t a surprise, but NFL fans did take notice to the timing.
