The Covid hotspots in Nottingham as Downing Street confirms when it would activate 'Plan B'

An interactive government map shows the areas of Nottingham where coronavirus rates remain high.

Discussions have commenced around whether stricter Covid measures will be imposed as infections remain steady across a number of Nottingham areas.

Downing Street has said ministers will only activate the Covid Plan B in England if they see the NHS coming under “significant pressure”.

The Prime Minister’s official spokesman said there were currently 95,000 hospital beds in the NHS, of which 7,000 were occupied by Covid patients, while around 6,000 were free.

“We knew the coming months would be challenging,” the spokesman said.

Plan B are measures the government set out to avoid a rise in Covid hospitalisations and deaths.

In September, ministers outlined steps to tackle Covid in the coming months, including details of a Plan B if the situation worsens.

Under the new restrictions, vaccine passports could be introduced to attend large indoor events.

Mandatory face coverings could also make a return aiming to reduce the risks of a winter crisis.

In Nottingham, infection rates in some areas are now in the hundreds.

The Home Office figures below show the case rate per 100,000 people for the 7–day period ending on October 15.

The most affected areas across the city are:

Mapperley 416.2

Carlton Hill 508.3

Woodthorpe & Arno Vale 602.8

Bobbers Mill 419.1

Wollaton Park 680.9

Wollaton Vale 440.2
