The couple who've had a baby on Christmas Day for the second time

The chances of giving birth to a baby on are pretty slim.

But no one would expect to be doing it all over again on Christmas Day a few years later. But that's exactly what one Welsh couple experienced on December 25, 2019, as they welcomed their second Christmas Day baby into the world.

Zoe Hall and Joshua Rossiter, from Newport , found themselves in a familiar situation, having been in the same hospital four years earlier on Christmas Day when their son Jaxon was born in 2015.

Fast forward to 2019, and they're back at the Royal Gwent Hospital, welcoming baby Roman into the family. Dad Joshua, 28, said: "Having another Christmas baby feels so surreal."

He added: "We're still in shock that we now have two born the same day. We weren’t expecting him until his due date - on the January 31 - or maybe just after Christmas.

"People joked about him arriving Christmas Day and [big brother] Jaxon even said he was going to be baby Jesus to everyone. "

A day in the life of the Welsh NHS:

The latest addition to the family, whose full name is Roman Leo Rossiter, arrived at 3.56pm, weighing nine pounds, two ounces.

Football fan Joshua added that the middle name Leo is after Argentinian star Lionel Messi.

Joshua added: "Everyone's in shock, all the nurses at the hospital couldn’t believe it and everyone’s been speaking about us."

The family also praised the "amazing" nurses at the Royal Gwent Hospital, adding: "They made the experience 10 times better."

They usually celebrate Jaxon's birthday a week or so before Christmas, so Joshua added that traditional will probably continue with Roman too.
