The cost of caring for a rescue dog

Battersea graphic

Figures released this week show that it costs £37,000 to run Battersea each day: £14.65 a day on each cat, and £23.80 on every dog. This includes everything the animals need, such as food, veterinary treatment, bedding, equipment and care. As well as the necessities, the dogs are given peanut butter and Marmite as an afternoon treat, smeared on toys and chews. Battersea is appealing to supporters to donate peanut butter or Marmite, either by bringing a jar to one of Battersea’s three centres, or buying a jar at battersea.org.uk/presents.
